Run The Jewels 4 is the soundtrack to the revolution that we all ...
Overview
Run the Jewels is a rap duo that consists of the rapper-producer El-P and rapper Killer Mike. Their music is up-beat, politically charged, conscious rap. Both rappers are consistent, but the interesting thing is they are extremely well-matched skill wise. They never show each other up on any song. They have an old-school sound with new age production. Run The Jewels 4 is extremely polished and well put-together. Their friendship has grown in good vibes and significance in this moment in history.
Defining Track
"Ooh La La" has a drum loop nearly identical to Earl Sweatshirt's Chum song. However, I feel silly pointing that out. This is a good song. It's well executed and it has their patented style all over it.
Final Thoughts
Run the Jewels is refreshing. They are sending the message that everyone should be but circumstantially can not. This album perfects their presentation while not introducing anything new. It's a bit to safe, but it's worth a listen.
