The Culture

The hood delivery of hip hop has gotten a lot more exaggerated, the lyrics have been simplified, but "the culture" is the selling point for a lot of new artists. Rap artists try to stay within the culture even if it means holding back their flows and punchlines.

The problem is they care more about being authentic to the culture than they care about selling it to other cultures which is a problem. The hood can connect with hood culture focused music due to common experiences, but for the people that can not, the video is simply a depiction of how hip hop is already perceived. How many times can you create the same experience before you hurt your own cause?

All approaches to entertainment have pro's and con's. People have so many different backgrounds and tastes, there's probably some good that comes from all music.
